With over 25 years of experience, we at Sydenhams Hire pride ourselves on our service and the quality of our equipment, consisting of over 3000 items, which are being added to daily.

Supplying everything from the smallest power tool, carpet cleaner or floor sander, right the way up to a 3-ton excavator or dumper, here at Sydenhams Hire we really do have the right tool for every job - no matter how big or small. We employ over 40 trained and motivated staff across our 8 Hire Centre locations, each with the experience to advise and assist in every aspect of your hire needs. In all of our locations, we stock a full range of sales items including power tools, accessories, consumables and spares covering most of the leading brands. Many of our Hire Centres are also just a stone's throw away from our Timber & Builders Merchant branches, meaning you can really get all you need in one trip!

More Information


If you have an account with us, then a deposit will not be required. If you do not have an account with us, we will require a deposit in addition to payment for the cost of hire. The deposit amount is usually equivalent to two weeks' hire, or a minimum of £20. The deposit will be refunded back to you upon return of the equipment, providing the item is returned to us in an acceptable condition. Both the deposit and hire amounts can be paid for by either credit or debit card.

Damage Loss Waiver

All hires are subject to a Damage Loss Waiver unless you provide us with a current hired-in plant insurance certificate prior to the point of hire.

Consumables and Wear Charges

There are many items within our hire range which may require a consumable item as part of the hire. These may be things like sanding sheets, fixings and even cutting blades or discs. These items, where required, are generally sold as a consumable at the point of hire. We also have machines on which there would be a wear charge attached, for example on machines with cutting heads, grinding teeth or even breaker steels. As these are a high value items they are charged as a wear charge, rather than as a consumable.

Hirer's Responsibilities

Any breakdown or breakage due to a defect in our equipment is our responsibility; any other loss, breakage or damage, apart from fair wear and tear, is chargeable to the hirer. Normal maintenance of equipment while on hire (e.g. oil, greasing and keeping clean) is the hirer's responsibility.

A full workshop repair service is available for electrical and mechanical tools.


If you don't have an account with us, then we will require two forms of identification upon hire. The identification supplied should include one form of photographic identification, such as a driving licence, as well as proof of address dated within the last three months, such as a bank statement or utility bill.
