Keeping you safe
Safety is a priority for us at Sydenhams Hire. See our handy health and safety guide below to learn more about keeping yourself safe while using our machines.
For your protection, and to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, we are required to advise on and supply appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when hiring out tools and equipment. You will find safety icons on product pages throughout our website. These icons offer guidance on the items of personal protective equipment which we recommend being used with that particular piece of equipment. You can find a key to our safety icons below.

All of our products conform to the latest EN and British Safety Standards. However, many of the machines we hire can be dangerous if used incorrectly.
Each machine will be demonstrated to the person receiving it, who will also receive verbal and written instruction on its safe and correct use. However, the person receiving the equipment should recognise their duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act to ensure that all such instructions are passed on to other users of the equipment.
Employers, in particular, should be aware of their duty in this respect.
Further things to consider
Electric Power Tools
We can supply most items in 110 volt and 230 volt.
We strongly recommend the use of a Circuit Breaker with all 230 volt machines. These are available for hire or sale at all branches.
Diesel Engines
Never allow diesel engines to run out of fuel - if you do, the whole fuel system will have to be expertly bled of air.
Check engine oil level daily and top up as necessary.
Protective Clothing
We urge customers to use protective clothing and equipment as and when necessary. Particular consideration should be given to the protection of head, eyes, ears, lungs, fingers and feet. We will be pleased to supply helmets, goggles, ear defenders, dust masks, gloves and steel reinforced footwear for this purpose.
Dust Free Equipment
As a company, we are only too aware of the concerns regarding the environment and health matters. Therefore we strive where possible to offer dust-free machines, please ask the hire assistant for information and help in this matter.
